Dear Chris. Your seminar got us moving and motivated to follow up on what money we can get back from the government for the business that we run. We did our research and found a Targeted Wage Subsidy where employers receive a subsidy of up to 60% of the hourly wage rate for a maximum of 78 weeks.

We registered with them one of the apprentices who we had just hired. Fortunately, he qualified for the program and at the end of the 4 months period we submitted in his hours etc and 4 weeks later we received a cheque in the mail for the total amount of $3,004.00.

I was so happy to finally let my mom take a early retirement to be able to be around the grandkids and she has always wanted to get back to school for early childhood, so I am so excited I was able to find the grants needed for her not only to be able to go to school but live off of her grants for the whole term back to school. I am very excited to tell you our success story. After reading the information on how to get educational grants, I approached my children’s private school admissions officer and spoke to him.

Please keep in mind that for two years we had to pay the full tuition, and that was hard. I used the “Steps of the Grant Proposal Process Flow Chart” on pages 4-5 (of the Grant Funding course material) and submitted a formal grant proposal package to the school. I believe that by providing them with such a strong case of why our grants were needed, my preparation blew him away, and helped us receive grant money. I used the same process for the next two years of private school, and I was successful in receiving grants.

I attended one of your Grant Programs which I found to be most informative and also motivating. In addition, the manuals that were provided offered a significant amount of useful information. Chris, in order to qualify for the energy grant it was necessary to replace the old furnace. Ken, the man who was installing the new high efficiency furnace showed me where the old furnace allowed 90% of the poisonous carbon monoxide to be vented into the house. Chris, you just might have saved my life, or at the very least saved me from a serious illness. There is no way the furnace would have been replaced without my having been exposed to the Grant process. For this, I am most appreciative.

I applied for a grant for a replacement furnace at one of our rental properties. We improved the insulation in the attic as well. Our grant under the EcoEnergy Retrofit Homes Program is for $1,730.00. Our tenants are pleased with the greater efficiency in heating the house and the reduced energy bills. In our picture, the two documents we are holding in our hands are a cheque for $525.00 and the other is a letter stating that we will get $2,365.00 from the federal government and the provincial government is going to match it. That's a total of $5,255.00. Wow!

This is how we did it. We had an energy audit test and were told what to do to make our house more energy efficient and how much money we could potentially get back in rebates.

Before taking Chris Johnson’s class on grants, I never knew anything like this was available for ordinary citizens. I was surprised to learn the amount of funding made available by the government to assist people. In my case, I tracked down a county program which pays for weatherization repairs to rental property. I applied and saved on repair work to my first rental property. The cool thing about the program, the county hired the contractor and performed the work for me.
